BCC stands for Blind Carbon Copy. BCC is used in sending emails. The main feature of BCC is that it sends email to multiple recipients without disclosing the individual emails addresses. When a person sends same email to a number of recipients, then it is the usual practice of the customer to send it in To: field by using comma or semi colon. But when the email is sent in this way, each receiver is able to see the complete list of recipient email addresses to which the same message is being sent to. BCC option allows hiding recipients in email messages i.e. the receiver will not be able to see the list of recipient email addresses. Thus using BCC is a smart way to protect the privacy of the recipients.
If the recipients to which the message is to be send can’t be entered into the top of the message then in this phase the carbon copy address bar can be used and there all the recipients can be entered. If the person had created blind carbon copy of the message and had also entered the name of the recipients then the other person to whom the mail is sent, known as the people in the To and Cc won’t be able to see the blind carbon copy elements. This message can be sent to many people at a time which make it easy for the people to find out that to whom the message had been generated.
Some of the benefits for using the Bcc feature are:-
Maintains the privacy of the recipient i.e. protects its e-mail address from being disclosed to others. Many times it happens that the person wants to send the message to multiple recipients without letting them know who else is receiving the message. It is very important especially in a business or an organization to keep lists of clients or members confidential. The messages are easier to read and faster to download because there is only one address in the e-mail address header. It also helps in tracking as in companies, in certain situations the employee wants to make his or her boss aware of the e-mail without involving them in the exchange. It helps in fighting the spam. In cases where people forward email messages without removing the addresses of previous recipients, the messages are repeatedly sent to many recipients who contain long lists of email addresses and thus can be collected by spammers and can be attacked.
